Date: 11/5/2013
Author: Genetech USA, Inc.
Origin: Ware County EMS

Ware County EMS would like to make all area citizens and residents aware of a recent public safety announcement, encouraging people to Act FAST - Call 911 at the first signs of someone suffering a stroke.

F.A.S.T. is an acronym for Face, Arm, Speech and Time, all components in determining that a person is having a stroke and then seeking immediate help.

Face: Take notice of the face and look for signs of an uneven or crooked smile.
Arm: Determine whether one of the person's arms is suddenly weak.
Speech: Listen for sudden slurred speech.
Time: Call 911 immediately if any of these signs are evident.

The sooner you call 911, the better the chances for recovery from a stroke.
