Nicholas Ware was born 1769 in Caroline Co., VA, died 1824 in New York City. He moved to Augusta, GA with his parents as a child, later becoming Mayor of Augusta. He studied medicine and practiced law. He was elected Republican U.S. Senator from Georgia in 1821 and served until his death.
